These words are for you. At least let me try to express how thankful I am for all the love and courage you have given our disaster-ravaged areas.
The aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda left many families homeless. Children were orphaned, many people lost their loved ones, and there was certainly plenty of devastation to go around. Death tolls increased by alarming numbers each day, and those of us in the unaffected cities and provinces prayed that our loved ones would pull through.
It's amazing how the Philippines is visible as a group of small dots on the world map, but the influx of donations to our archipelago has been overwhelming.
Society has been known for the many people with not-so-good intentions. Even people known to have respectable jobs and reputations have fallen into the trap known as greed, but Yolanda's (Haiyan's) aftermath showed many people who stepped up and gave their time, love, and services to the victims of the recent natural disasters. They are VOLUNTEERS.
Volunteers, you are different.
Silently, you give care to the homeless.
You help people without the thought of pay or recompense.
You give your time unconditionally.
You risk your own life to save those of others.
Your desire to help comes from your heart and soul, not out of pity, but out of the will to be a tower of strength for those who are weak.
Stand up my friend. Stand up and be proud to say "I AM A VOLUNTEER."
Not all people can be like you, and not all people can do what you do unselfishly.
This is a salute to all you volunteers who are the unsung heroes of our society! Your unspoken love will be remembered.
HAIL TO YOU!
Hail to you, the heroes who rose, to valiantly help our nation.
And to my countrymen, please remember: WE ARE FILIPINOS!
A resilient race. A race of courageous and hardworking citizens.
From what we see all around us, despite the devastating hit we took, we see the rest of the world has rallied to our side. So much love and help has poured in from every point on the globe. They have extended their hands. Let us not fail them by choosing to remain below morale.
We have formidable faith. Let us hold hands to show we will never let go of one another.
We can stand the aftermath of Yolanda.
We have a government mobilizing relief efforts to support our stricken fellowmen.
Let us stop pointing the finger of blame at anyone and cool our flying tempers. Instead, let us move forward TOGETHER.
We can do it. No one will be left behind.
Kaya natin ito. Walang iwanan!
